Christmas parcel deadlines for troops urged by postal officials
The War Department issued a bulletin urging the public to mail Christmas parcels to troops through the main post office due to limited facilities. Notable deadlines cover states from California to New Jersey with set latest mailing dates in December. A postal tax applies on parcels with postage of twenty five cents or more, at one cent per additional twenty five cents. Officials cited strained rail and shipment capacity across the country.
