A local Arcanum gathering is scheduled for November 14 in Hall Duttig beginning at o clock. The event will discuss the business of the organization and present a conclusion or prospect delivered by candidates in a session titled giness.
The regular Town Council meeting on Wednesday discussed apportioning tax on part of the A B Kingsland property on Centre Street and possible rate cuts to back taxes to wipe out debt and trigger a sale. Collector Van Riper resolved the issue and a $500 amount was involved. Clerk Rusby read a communication from H Albey criticizing the council for not having placed certain valueless items on the agenda.
On Wednesday morning two classes for seventh and third grades from Park and Yantacaw schools opened in the Town Hall. Miss Minnie L. Davis of Tarrytown NY and Miss Jeanette Slock of Lakewood NJ teach the classes. The Building Committee abandoned plans for vacant stores and the overflow from larger schools is accommodated with little taxpayer expense.
Elmer Hallidy aged 15 son of Mr and Mrs David Hallidy of High street died Friday afternoon after becoming ill at West Nutley station. Cerebrospinal meningitis was the cause and Dr Langdon attended but he died at home. Funeral services were held at his residence with many attending at a local cemetery in the town.
