A wagon hauling goods for Newark General Merchandise stalled on Powershon Hill Centre Street yesterday. The horse drew the truck backward into the gutter causing havoc with a load that included lamp chimneys and bottles of olive oil. The driver leapt to safety as the rig toppled into the gutter.
Voters in the town saw the first and third wards exceed 400 votes each on Tuesday prompting a division into two districts before the next election. Commissioners will draw boundary lines to balance population, with 447 ballots in Ward One and 427 in Ward Three. Overall turnout reached 1,535 with 661 in the Second Ward. registration this year rose by 581 over last year, totaling 1,736.

Firemen extinguished them with chemical tanks without damage to nearby property.
Joseph W Williams aged 21 of 64 Chester Avenue Newark was fined 55 dollars by Recorder Post for four traffic violations. He drove an automobile with a manufacturer's license plate and failed to stop after being nailed by Chief Wright Sutcliffe. He was later arrested in Newark.
Police noted multiple cases including Patsey Pangler fined 5.50 after being summoned to stop in Washington Avenue and speeding charges suspended. Chanceman McCrea arrested F G Dudley on Market Street for speeding with a morning hearing scheduled. Cohen and Cohen fined 2.60 for a fight near Centre Street. Ward jailed for concealed weapons and re-arrested for break in at Yountakah Country Club in Paterson. he is nearly seventy and has spent thirty years in jail.
Building permits issued for William A Lambert at Daily Street northeast corner of Bloomfield for a dwelling cost 3200. Other permits include J A 1 51 Melrose Street for a dwelling cost 80, Brellian Brookline Avenue for a dwelling cost 2500, Salvadore Cerantty Trenton place barn cost 200, and Lough 107 Church Street Hiden Locust Street dwelling.
The Buildings and Grounds committee opened bids for the Springarden School on Coeyman Avenue. Low bids came from William Nairn for masonry carpentry iron and painting at 36367, R W McLain for plumbing at 2495, Fred P Markle for heating ventilating at 5693, and Williams for electrical work at 626. The committee will seek contract awards at the November 28 board meeting with furnishings to follow after completion.
The educational section of the Woman's Club appropriated ten dollars to supplement funds for infantile paralysis braces. Miss Helen Jessup spoke on Household Arts, followed by a questionnaire. A stereoticon lecture on Prevention of Blindness is scheduled for February 5 at Park School.

Thieves broke through a transom at Park Confectionery Store Monday morning. They forced the cash register open and escaped without touching other contents in the shop.
John D DeWitt of Kingsland street sails for England aboard a Wednesday voyage. He plans to stay abroad for two or three months.
Chief Wright Sutcliffe started a brace fund with $10 for victims of infantile paralysis. Many supporters offered contributions and one anonymous donor pledged to cover a brace for Michael. More children may need funding as parents cannot afford braces. On Tuesday the Travesino boy will be measured at a brace firm to determine needs.
A branch of the National Audubon Societies for the protection of wild birds and animals was formed this month through Miss Avie M Ellsler of the Park. The first meeting at Miss Ellsler’s home focused on organization with officers elected including Edward Messer as president and Jeffreys as secretary.
A rear window was forced to gain entry at the P. Pinajian tailor shop on 36th Franklin Avenue. Clothing valued at about $125 was stolen including three suits, three pairs of trousers, one overcoat, one sack coat, and a suitcase.
The Social Service Bureau will extend hours to Friday evenings from 7 to 8 30 in addition to regular mornings on Monday Wednesday and Friday. It seeks a desk chairs and a rug and requests donations to furnish the office.
