Prospective residents and visitors are listed with travels and transfers in Nutley. Local clubs host dances and meetings at Fortnightly Club and church parsonages. residents plan summer trips to Atlantic City and Peekskill while others relocate to California.
Arbor Day was observed at Park and Yantacaw Schools with tree and vine plantings. Park School Primary grades planted on Franklin Avenue. Gram Mar grades followed with campus exercises. Seventh and eighth grades decorated their trees with school and class colors, recitations and singing of America. At Yantacaw, Trustee Arthur Stager oversaw tree placements as students observed the day in class.
Mrs Susan M Young of Franklin Avenue Nutley and Mr John Hickey formerly of Lockport New York were married at the Passaic Congregational Church parsonage by Rev R S Goddard on Tuesday night May 4. The newlyweds plan a wedding trip to visit Judge Hickey in Lockport and to Niagara Falls before settling in Nutley.
St. Pauls Congregational Church and Society reports strong finances and growing membership with ninety new members and sixty新增 names added to the pastor's Bible clans. Trustees and officers were elected for terms ranging one to two years including A R Taylor H D Finn John J Feltus J J Malmar M B Hatch Samuel Bird Jr W Davis John Wallace Thomas Clements Alfred Wassall W R Bennett Fletcher Place and Deacons and Deaconesses Mrs Thomas Clements and Mrs Fletcher Place.
Joseph Drennen faced a non-support complaint after his wife sought separation. He claimed willingness to support, but disputes over household details led to his arrest at the station with his trunk. Mrs. Drennen said she would not live with him, and he agreed to pay 36 per week for the children’s care.
The Second Ward Association met at the Fortnightly Club House with 98 members and 21 new enrollments. Officers were elected for the coming year and two constitutional amendments were adopted.
The Nutley Improvement Society held its regular monthly meeting in Town Hall. Eighteen new members were reported, eleven traced to the Terrace gathering at Mrs Ramon Alfonzo's home. The Health Inspector pledged canvas covers for ash wagon passes and the Shade Tree Committee approved tree guards for young trees. The society praised town officials and announced a May 21 cleanup by a hired man for vacant lots. Citizens needing cleaning services should contact the secretary.
Heavy rain last Saturday made baseball on the Park grounds impossible though a game with the Original All Stars may occur today. The nine remains largely the same as in the opener with the pitcher yet to be chosen by the captain.
The adjourned Nutley Town Council session discussed upcoming work through July including budget and license issues. Veterans asked for $45 for grave decorations and oiling street frontage was proposed after 6000 feet signed a petition.
The Naval Brigade of the Nutley M. E. Church and cadet corps from Grace and Reformed churches prepare an athletic meet for Saturday May 28 on the south side of Chestnut street. Senior and junior events offered with usual track and field contests. Starter Dr G H Philhower. judges W D Wight W J Gray H Mortimer Libby. clerk of the course G A Hill. field event judges H W Goodrich and George Rea.
The Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church requests donations of items suitable for a rummage sale. The sale is planned for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 11 and 12, at the Barney Building on Passaic Avenue.
The Nutley Exempt Fireman's Association named delegates to attend the State Exempt Fireman's Association annual convention in Philipsburg on Wednesday May 19. Chief H HL Stager W F Dittig W GO Davis Thomas ayes James Heminsley and Jacob Fitting, J Harry Van Winkle will attend as a life member delegate.
A lively minstrel performance at Town Hall last night featured a full cast delivering humor and strong choruses. The program included jokes, songs, monologues, dances, and a long list of musical numbers with an active East and orchestra ensemble led by Roy Snyder and Edwin Dorch.
Friday afternoon a meeting of the organization will be held at Mrs Rosenstock residence Prospect Street. Papers will be read by Mrs John Howlings and Mrs H W St John on the topic Hall of Fame Women.
