The Friday Afternoon Club Annual Meeting Held in March

The Natley Friday Afternoon Club met at Mrs. A. B. Marquardt’s Prospect Street home on March 23. New officers were elected: President Mrs. C. B. Van de Water, Vice President Mrs. M ER. Mores, Secretary Mrs. J. D. Little, Treasurer Mrs. G. B. Douglas. The club adjourned after two social hours and will meet again at Mrs. A. B. Meredith’s Prospect Street on April 6 for readings on the Bronte Sisters chaired by Mrs. H. T. Humphrey. A full attendance is urged to discuss next season’s program.

Town Council Brief Meeting Sets Water Billing Change

City fathers approved 94323.73 in bills and 1549.59 receipts, awarded fernishing broken Stone contract to William Marley, and authorized two Centre street poles for N. J. & N. Telephone. Centre street sidewalk repairs to be completed in 24 hours or town will proceed with lien. Water intake meter tests showed inaccuracy. East Jersey Water offered a free replacement meter to be tested before acceptance.

Firemen's Day Proposed for May 16 in Nutley

At a Joint Firemen's Committee meeting a resolution urged the Town Council to designate May 16 as Firemen's Day to coincide with the State Firemen's Relief Association Annual Convention in Nutley. The plan calls for 400 to 500 delegates, an out‑of‑town parade, and cooperation from citizens. The Board of Education approved closing public schools that day, and Vantacan Engine Company will host an April 30 entertainment and dance to raise funds.
