Nutley Proceeds to Court to Protect Water Supply

The Nutley Town Council authorized Town Attorney J Harry Yuli to seek court action to pause any move that could disrupt water delivery until the Attorney General suit against East Jersey Water Co is settled or alternatives found. Hull will ask Vice-Chancellor Emory to stay Patersons injunction threatening Nutleys supply.

May Get More Trolleys Through New Car Barns

Public Service Railway seeks permission to lay a switch on Washington avenue near Big Tree to access a proposed large car barn on its property. The plans call for a 100 by 400 foot shed, with the Road Committee and Engineer to study the request before action. The council may press for service concessions, including day Broadcar service for Nutley.

Cops Transferred Across Beats In Nutley Shuffle

Three Nutley patrolmen were moved to different beats Wednesday night as part of the department policy to rotate assignments. Patrolman Stager shifts from Prospect street to Franklin avenue, Patrolman Ford moves to Passaic avenue, and Patrolman Maliza takes over the Prospect street section.

A Grace Church Ways and Means Loan Exhibit drew large crowds with a global assortment of rare items. Highlights included chained books discussion by William Harris Arnold, art talks by Arthur Hoeber, national memorabilia, Dutch brass, colonial jewelry, Washington portraits, Napoleonic pieces, and a vast array of Chinese and Japanese curiosities curated by Mrs Edward P. Miss May E. Bailey of Avondale Road received a silk coat of arms made in Japan from Chris N. Dell a retiring U S Navy officer who shared stories of his four year cruise aboard the Denver and Samar He was awarded a gold medal for saving the crew on the Samar in Chinese waters Dell also served aboard the South Dakota visiting China Japan Jerusalem Egypt and Spain before the cruiser returned to the United States and off to Mexico Dell calls the Mexican situation too quiet to be interesting.

Nutley Girls Claim Tie After Rutherford Forfeits

Nutley High School girls basketball claimed a 2-2 tie with Rutherford High yesterday after five extra minutes failed to settle the score as Rutherford refused to continue. The game was fast and even with a late-forfeit deciding the outcome.

City Overseer Charges Man for Not Supporting Family

Wilbur Garrabrant of Chestnut Street was brought before Recorder Washington E. Page on Wednesday night for failure to support his family. He was released after a hearing the next morning on promise to improve, following Councilman Callahan placing him in a job. Garrabrant had been working in New York State when his wife reported non support to Tuers, leading to his apprehension as he entered the town on Wednesday.

The Yountakeh Country Club plans several changes to its golf links to improve the course now regarded as among the best in the region. A new green will replace the old Rigen course and will be known as New Green No. 3. The season schedule is not yet finalized.

Man Fined After Stone Blow Incident

Recorder Washington E Page fined Antone Debinski of 17 East Passaic Avenue $5 on Saturday night after Stanislau Radzelowitz of the same address pressed the complaint. Debinski claimed self defense, a doctor’s certificate showed he had been in bed a week from the blow to the right ear with a stone. Witnesses testified for both sides with conflicting accounts as Radzelowitz reported severe hemorrhages.

John F Burns, a solicitor, remained jailed after a Monday night arrest and a thirty day Recorder sentence following denial of police acquaintance.
