The board lists 25 men in One-A deemed certain to report July 26, with many appeals and exams noted. Local men marked Nutley and Belleville residents occupy the addresses given. re classifications pause pending Washington guidance.
Motor vehicle inspectors arrested John Davagne age nineteen of Bloomfield avenue after he removed his hands from the wheel and the car rolled at thirty five miles per hour with the driver’s feet cocked on the wind. Motor Vehicle Commissioner W C Dill suspended Davagne’s license for two months.
Sabella who runs a market at 216 Franklin avenue was fined $11 by Recorder Post for distributing circulars that littered the sidewalks and roadways on several streets. Isidor Chernin of 167 Franklin avenue was fined $2 for passing a trolley on the wrong side. Patrolman Hoch arrested eight others after a Sunday incident at a local orchard owned by Predata. further court appearances were set for Steffanelli and relatives following a mass formation assault on Harrison street.
The Soldiers' Comfort Unit will stage another block dance at the same location as before on Thursday night August 15. Mason's orchestra will provide music. Donations include $1 from Mrs. C. P. Fuller and 5,000 yards of khaki thread from John Priestly and items from Kenneth Pearson Club.
A list of names including Moses Edward Smith Antonio Mastroiani Joseph Lepone and others from Passaic Belleville and nearby streets is cited. On July 29 four men drawn from this list will be called for partial service though their exact identities are not yet available.
On Monday night police on Washington Avenue and River Road arrested Andrew Thaller, 21, of Belleville for a fine of $3 and Raffalo Ardhlanzi, 23, of Bruce Street Newark for a hearing tomorrow. Samuel Feinamith of 800 Taaren Avenue Harrison was fined $11 and $3 for related offenses. All were found in or near Passaic Avenue.
The eastern town sewer plan triggers a feud between Mayor Diebitech and Third Ward head E. A. GaNun. GaNun accuses the mayor of autocrat behavior as petition signers seek to delay sewer lines until after the war. An engineering check seeks street ownership to gauge petition influence.
Anthony D. Usina of Burnett Place and New York legal offices is appointed food administrator for Nutley by the State Food Administration. He will oversee production and distribution of food stuffs and enforce orders, with power to suspend violators. The notice lists fair wholesale prices and consumer prices per pound for beans and other goods under the national fair price plan.
A new War Savings Stamps drive adopts the chain letter method. Town chairmen distribute post card books pledging $100 of stamps for $84, tearing cards after signing to recruit others, with county boards tracking progress. Nutley boosts sales metrics and displays local progress against nearby towns.
The Woman's Club has received an invitation to attend an illustrated lecture on the re education of crippled soldiers. It will be held July 24 at 10 a m at the Newark Theatre. Volunteers will be asked.

The first requests for larger donations to the national war fund arrive. Nutley’s Knights of Columbus seek ten million and aim for a five thousand Nutley share, with early action planned. The YMCA plans seventy five million and Nutley share. subscriptions pace includes four at twenty seven dollars monthly and two donations totaling five dollars.
Arthur P. Dickinson announced yesterday that the Park Theatre is leased again. The new manager will be a Passaic woman who will take over sometime next week.
Mrs. Josephine Goodale, an elderly woman in her nineties, suffered a broken wrist and shock after a fall at the home of Mrs. Thomas Greenwood on Avenue. She was taken for treatment and is in a delicate condition.
The Comfort Kit Unit completed the 400 comfort bags allotment, with 100 for the army and 100 for the navy, assigned to the local Red Cross. Bags will ship once Atlantic Division supplies the materials and utensils they require.
