Nutley residents attend gatherings and trips across New Jersey and neighboring states. Families and friends visit Lake Hopatcong, Asbury Park, and Atlantic shore while others plan summer stops in Belgrade Lakes Maine and Springfield Vermont. Local church and club events, picnics, dances, and youth activities fill the season with neighbors sharing headlines and hospitality.
The Fourth was celebrated Monday at Rose Hill the home of Mr and Mrs Martin Rutan in Wayne Place. Guests from New York Rahway Metuchen and Roseville attended. Mrs Alfred D Hahn and Mrs Frank P Seguine assisted in receiving. The dinner was on a lawn pavilion with Frank P Seduine as toastmaster. The day included games races tea at six and fireworks at night.
Citizens back public band concerts in the Park with a local player group planned and a leader from outside town. Mayor Lux's committee has consulted residents and the City Council is expected to act at Wednesday’s meeting to push the project forward.
The Republic of Cuba creates a Bureau of Information with Leon J. Canova named director by President Gomez. Canova, an American journalist based in Cuba for eleven years, will oversee inquiries free of charge through the Utility and Information Bureau in Havana.
First Church of Christ Scientist offers Sunday School at 10 a.m. and a 11 a.m. service in rooms 32 33 34 of the People's Bank Building Passaic. The service focuses on the Sacrament.

Mr. Charles W. Powers editor of the Union and Bloomfield Republican leader visited Nutley Town Hall Tuesday night to attend a Cechy Yezi trial before Recorder Party. The proceeding was abandoned as witnesses for the complainant failed to appear.
Miss Jessie D. Coe of Walnut Street sails aboard the steamship Carpathia on Thursday for a voyage across the Mediterranean. She plans to stay several weeks in Hungary and return via England, with a stay expected until September.
A team owned by Matthew J. Galla han of Church Street won a race at Olympic Park on Saturday. The bay colt Sir Matthew with horse Mark ham won the %s mile race in 1.034. On Monday the same horses won in the % mile race in 1.32. They are entered for races at the same track next Saturday.
The July 4 law requires hunters to obtain a license to hunt legally. Licenses cost $1 plus 15 cents clerk fee. permits are issued by town or county clerks and expire December 31. Citizens resident for one year may hunt only during lawful periods. farm occupants and family may hunt without a license on their land with limits. fines up to $20 plus costs for hunting without a license.
A lively runaway team on Franklin avenue yesterday morning spooked by an approaching trolley car, driven by William Barthman of Erie Farm Allwood. Barthman lost control, the light buggy overturned, he and the horses were caught on Prospect street with the wagon badly damaged near Fire Chief Stager’s residence.
