Pistol Duel Fells Burglars as Nutley Police Fire Back

In Nutley New Jersey on Kingsland street a gunfight erupted when burglars tried to enter homes near J D DeWitt and Frank Zimmerman. Sgt John Jameson and his brother Chance Man Frank Jameson exchanged shots with two armed men who fled toward Passaic. An Italian suspect was arrested in Passaic but not confirmed as the shooter. The episode followed earlier burglaries in the same area and amid police manpower shortages.

Fire destroys home on East Passaic Avenue

Fire gutted the residence of J. H. Campbell in Acquackanonk Township near Nutley Tuesday night. Cause unknown. Nutley headquarters sent the alarm and Franklin Hose responded with chemical tanks but could not obtain water. Loss estimated at $2,000. the Campbell family was not at home.
