Fires near Brookfield and Avondale threaten property
Two grass fires last Saturday near Brookfield avenue threatened the Ladies' Club house and A. Stager barn but were controlled by local help. On Tuesday afternoon the unused hot house of Wm. Conover in Avondale caught fire from burning grass. Yantacaw and Avondale Hose companies responded and kept it under control. The funeral of Wm. Conover occurred the same day.
