Nutley residents and visitors noted over the holiday period with many guests from Philadelphia New York and Newfoundland for church services music and visits. Families shared meals dances and a range of social events at homes on Nutley Park Burnett and Whitford avenues as well as The Masonic Hall and Nutley Methodist.
The Erie Railroad Co and Nutley Coal & Supply Co clash over moving freight siding tracks from Franklin to Hillside avenues to the land of the Dodd estate. Nutley Realty Co ownership prompts new bids to deed land while Nutley Improvement Society backs the change. Roadblock delays unloading and forces detours. both sides expect eventual relocation.
Nuiley Lodge Jr O U A M elected officers for the coming year including Edwin Darling as Councillor John L Kierstead as vice councillor Albert C Keyser as warden George K Speer as conductor Charles E Armstrong as trustee for three years BE Humphrey as representative to Essex County Benefit Association J Lax and Hugh Hallidy as representatives to the Benefit Association HB Humphrey as recording secretary J P Hunting as assistant recording secretary Harry Cueman as financial secretary and John P Lux as treasurer The lodge reports a flourishing condition and many new members joined last year.
The Nutley town government prepares for the January 1 meeting when the new council will be sworn in by Town Clerk Busby. Mayor Lux and Councilman DeVries are established as strong figures. two other incumbents return. Committee assignments and officer appointments will be announced, with many current officials slated for reappointment.
By request the choir under Mr Joseph D Little will repeat the Cantata The Hate of the World on Sunday morning. The Lords Supper will be administered and the service begins at 11 o'clock. In the evening Rep J Ogden Winer will preach on The Signs of the Times at 7 45. The Sunday School session runs 9 45 to 10 45. The Junior Ep worth League meets at 3 pm under LeRoy Wood with Getting Ready for a Day's Work. Comrades of the Morning Watch will enroll and join the Bureau of Bible Study of Chicago.
