Fountain L Thompson Elected to Senate for North Dakota
Fountain L. Thompson of North Dakota succeeds the late Martin L. Johnson in the U S Senate. A longtime Democrat from Towner County, he was appointed to fill the vacancy, surprising many as his political reach had been limited beyond his state. Thompson is about fifty years old, known as a Democrat who has voted straight, backing Bryan though not in sympathy with silver movement. He is described as reserved yet capable of bold action when required.
