The Nutley Belleville district drafted 96 men with many called or summoned as the draft board released names. Exemptions were denied for nine in good physical condition, while dozens were required to appear for Tuesday hearings.

Paterson Independents defeat Nutley Club in close 3 2 game

The Nutley Club lost to Paterson Independents 3 to 2 on Park Oval in a leaderful summer contest. Nutley fielding included Horner and Pasion of Nutley A C with Whitmarsh likely to cover third and Legs Lawrence returning at first base. Paterson showed stronger batting and pitching with Kane or McGinnity on the mound and Scorso behind the plate.

Board asks state to grant Stirratt starling shooting permit

Military honors for Nutley aviator Stephen Derr Jr

Funeral services for Stephen Derr Jr the first Nutley boy to die in the war were held Monday at Grace Church. An auditorium full of mourners saw military honors at Rosedale Cemetery with Captain John Whitney leading Squadron A. Derr was killed last Friday in a Toronto aeroplane collision.
