The Sidewalk Committee met at Council Chambers to review sidewalk and gutter repairs and the duties of property owners. They noted some residents comply while others refuse without a town ordinance. A state law draft on snow ice grass and impediments was reproduced and discussed for possible local adoption. The act would empower municipalities to require removal within hours or days and allow liens and cost recovery through the tax system. Approved March 28 1904.

The club, despite a lineup of stars, failed to win overall and grew demoralized. Last Saturday’s game against Sth Rutterford ended 8 to 4, with a strong stretch followed by a collapse in one inning.

Girl Rescued After Sand Pit Cave-In Near Kingsland
Eight year old Annie Lobb became buried in a sand pit at Kingsland street and Hillside avenue on Thursday. Neighbor John Jamison witnessed the accident and pulled her free after hard work. She was unconscious but recovered after returning home.

Fatal fall during Newark painting job on iron poles
Edward Kelly of North Roseville avenue Newark died Wednesday forenoon after falling from a ladder while painting iron supports for Public Service Corporation at Franklin avenue and Centre street. Kelly, an expert with rubber gloves, was atop a pole when it felt funny and he plunged onto flagstones. Dr Largdor attributed the death to a broken neck and skull fracture. County officers arranged for removal of the body.
