Training Program for Leadership for Spanish Speakers

Applications are now being accepted for the West Town Institute for Community Leaders to be held at the Division Urban Progress Center, 1940 Division, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for six weeks starting Tuesday. The bilingual program covers law enforcement, consumer fraud, landlord tenant relations, juvenile problems, leadership techniques, and more. Officer Friendly Visiting Elementary Schools Citywide

Twenty officers started visiting 773 grade schools including public Catholic and Lutheran to reach 300000 kindergarten to third grade students by year end. The program began as a March 1966 trial with six patrolmen and aims to teach safety rules good citizenship and respect for authority.
