Gets Wiggle On Wins Illinois Hula Hoop Title

Cynthia Shank eight of 3547 Wa bansia Almira Simons Park won the Illinois Hula Hoop championship in her age group at White Sox Park before a Sox Senators game. She has already won Simons Park and city titles and could advance to the regional contest then the national event in California.

Teens Plan Self-Supported Social Center in North-Kellar

A group of about 30 youths ages 14 to 16 from the North-Kellar area seek parental and community support to open a teen run social center. The project aims for a self funding model with dues and activities, including Saturday dances, aided by local business and clergy volunteers, with contact for involvement via Jack Crafter at 342 4484. A delegation met with the Mayor's Commission on Youth Welfare for guidance.

Manpower Course Completes at National Food Store

Arnold Wettour, a journeyman meat cutter at the National Food store on 3635 Chicago, completes the company's manpower development program. He is among 32 National meat department employees who finished the nine month training school.

Thomas Farrell Von Humboldt Principal Dies

Funeral services were held in Evanston for Thomas J. Farrell 62 principal of Von Humboldt Elementary in Columbus after dying July 30 in hospital He taught in Chicago Public Schools since 1926 serving as principal at Morse Arnold and Peabody Elementary Schools and served in the U S Navy 1942 to 1945 Lt. Survivors include his wife Mary Kaye a daughter and two grandchildren.
