Obituary for Mrs Gust Lemke Ida Belle Lemke of Jackson township born Oct 6 1887 died May 7 1918 at age 30 7 1. She married Gust Lemke Nov 16 1904 and left seven sons. Survived by husband children her parents Wm H Dunkelberger and wife five brothers Ora Noah Cressel in North Judson and B W Dunkelberger in Fargo along with two sisters Mrs John Mauritzen and Mrs M R Caddy. Funeral at North Judson Lutheran Church with Rev Heine. Interment Highland cemetery. Also items on Big Patriotic meeting May 23 and local church events May 22 usw. Other notes mention Chas Cannon and family traveling to Knox and Mosher ditch petition granted despite opposition by W H Bunge. Charles J Buchta of Bass Lake died May 8 1918 in Premont Texas. remains sent to Knox then Bass Lake. Survived by wife and son Albert.
Compact wartime digest urges destroying common barberry to protect wheat crops and advises early coal orders. It warns against building nonessential structures and stresses unity with the AEF warning about German peace terms, urging direct correspondence with the Kaiser after the war.
Coming Sunday May 26 the Lutheran school festival will be at the usual time and place. The Lutheran aid will serve ice cream coffee and dainties. All are invited to contribute, with proceeds going to the local Red Cross. A German service follows at 164 p.m. with elders collecting before and after. Rev. WM. Heine urges liberal cheerful giving to support soldiers and the Red Cross.
Wallace's Vulcanizing Works on Main Street Knox invites residents to donate old tires tubes rubber boots and shoes through May 27. Proceeds benefit the Red Cross War Fund with credit assigned to the donor's township.
In Starke County the Third Liberty Loan attracted 1540 subscriptions exceeding a $90 000 quota by 35150 to 125150 total. First State Bank recorded 451 subscriptions totaling 29650 exceeding its 25000 target while railroad employees contributed 89 subscriptions totaling 4600. All told 540 subscriptions and 34250 dollars were raised here. nothing is wrong with Wayne township.
The M. E. Ladies Aid hosts an annual spring sale at the church on Wednesday May 22 starting at 4 p.m. Supper follows at 6 p.m. Menu includes corn bread wheat bread roast beef mashed potatoes lettuce salad peas coffee bar and pie priced 25 and 35 cents. Aprons and other items for sale should be delivered by Tuesday noon to Mrs Jas Tomlinson or Mrs L K E Mosher. Patronage urged.
Mrs. Margaret Ann Inman 76 died at home in North Judson on May 11 at 2 30 p m. Born May 18 1841 in Pennsylvania she moved to Centerville Michigan as a child. She married Oliver P Inman Oct 5 1862 and leaves five children three daughters two sons a brother a sister 24 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral from the home Tuesday under Rev Collier of the M E church with interment at San Pierre cemetery. Also notes on Boy Scouts earning Liberty Loan medals including Manuel Donchin who sold 20 bonds totaling 1200 and Troop total bonds 8950.

Also noted is the California township Sunday School Convention at Round Lake church on May 19 at 2 30 P M.
Miss Theresa Picchietti and Mr. William Bollini were married at the Catholic church in a ceremony by Father Van Rie. A large gathering attended a church breakfast, a hall supper for 75, and a public dance. The couple will live on the groom's farm east of town after a honeymoon trip.
The First State Bank of North Judson secures a free showing of The Talisman at the Palace Theatre Friday evening May 24. The program blends comedy travelogue and wartime scenes with icons like the Statue of Liberty and Independence Hall. Admission is free for all except children under 12 must be accompanied by parents.
Neighbors are urged to spread word of a big Patriotic mass meeting at Burch's hall on Thursday evening May 28. Mrs. John G. Smith shares a letter from her brother Alfred Smith of the Dutch U.S. Infantry now at Camp Houston Texas and bound for the Atlantic. He writes from the train across the Wabash River to Indiana about homey songs, hopeful cheer, and prayers for safety as he travels toward battle overseas.
The Food Administration allows twenty five pounds of sugar in addition to the three pound per capita limit for canning or preserving, with certification. After the first allotment is used, another may be issued, and remaining sugar must be returned at season end. Federal Food Administrator F. F. Wuitson urges voluntary meat reduction to avoid reinstating meatless days.

The war time measure adds a new annual registration for men who have turned 21 since June 6 last.
