Million Dollar Project Aims to Drain Kankakee Swamp Land

The U S Department of Agriculture reports a plan to reclaim about 500000 acres in northern Indiana by enlarging the Kankakee River channel. Estimated cost is around 1 million dollars. The project would widen the channel to 105 feet at Porter county line and 190 feet at the state line to relieve flooding at the mouth of the Yellow River.

Northwestern Students Riot At Circus In 1920s

North Judson youths Leonard Collins and Abe Peterson led a disruption at a Bodkin Brothers circus adjacent to Northwestern University. Police arrested nine, including Collins who resisted arrest. two warrants were issued for him. The incident followed prior trouble with the same circus.
