Chas Podell and Mrs Rickey Dressler of Winamac were in an automobile crash three miles southeast of Valparaiso on the Yellowstone Trail. Podell, driving, looked away and the car veered into a ditch overturning but no one was hurt. Farmers aided the recovery and the trip resumed. Mrs Dressler was en route to visit a sister and recover from a prior operation.

Highway Bridge Program Seeks 227 Structures in 59 Counties
The 1928 highway commission plan lists 227 bridges across 59 counties at about 3.214 million dollars with 1.046 million funded by the federal government. Bridge plans were by William J. Titus with John D Williams noting many projects may not start this year. State and federal share half each for 96 new structures totaling 2.6912 million, others paid by the state. An Eel river bridge in Clay county will cost about 80 thousand dollars to be county built. Thirty six federal aid bridges exceed 15 thousand dollars, top at 180 thousand. 17 state projects exceed 15 thousand, up to 100 thousand.
