Pioneer Resident Frederick Schacht Dies at 79
Frederick Schacht of Wayne township dies after a long illness at the family home where he lived nearly forty years. Born January 17 1887 in Mecklenburg Germany he was 79. His wife Dora Zornow died in 1899. Surviving nine children include William Robert John Ebouy Charles Fred Dos Floevert Alps Wan Lomke. Funeral at home with Rev Wa Tieine officiating. Interment North Judson cemetery.

A small freight wreck on the C. and E. I. near Wilder Saturday at 5 30 p m caused coal to drop from an engine and ignite a bride on a morning passenger train leaving a 4 foot gap in the rails. The local at Wilder crossed the damaged track and the rails gave way as coal spilled. The engine stalled but escaped as a passenger train followed closely behind.
