Old Resident Israel Phillips Dies at 81 in North Judson
Israel Phillips, a pioneer resident of North Judson, Indiana, died at home Monday at age 81 years 1 month 4 days. Born March 31, 1831 in Champaign County Ohio, he married Louisa Kiger and later Hannah Malott, leaving a wife, son David, daughter Mrs Geo Sewell, six grandchildren, five sisters and a brother. Brief services were held at home with interment at Monon Chapel Cemetery nearby.

Special Ohio train tour to Crown Point with Purdue lectures

Profitable lectures on alfalfa and other farm products will be given by experts. The train stops in North Judson on Friday March 29. Further details next week. The state board of health reports extensive experiments showing formic acid used as a food preservative in the state. Prosecutions are being prepared as it is not sanctioned by Indiana law and is classified with benzoate of soda. The use was widespread, especially in soda fountain fruits.
