New York Central Expands Engine Orders With Lima and American
New York Central recently purchased the New York Central railroad and placed orders for ninety five engines with Lima Loco Motive Works. Seventy will be Mikado type and twenty five for yard use. Young man dies after attempting to board freight train
Harry Nelson 18 tried to catch an eastbound freight at LaCrosse Sunday afternoon missing the step and being dragged beneath a passing car. His right leg was crushed and he died shortly before reaching Logansport while en route to his home and mother. Authorities say shock contributed to his death after transfer to the eastbound passenger train. He had been working on the Armentrout farm near Burnettsville.

Wilhelmina Schmidt nee Will born in Germany November 21 1844 died at her home near San Pierre February 20 1916 aged 71 years 2 months. She married on February 11 1865 and leaves a husband four sons two daughters four brothers one sister nine grandchildren and many friends. A lifelong Evangelical church member she was a devoted Christian wife and mother. Funeral was held February 24 at the EF A church San Pierre Rev Reutenpohler officiating with interment in San Pierre cemetery.

Cox in Tails Again In Chicago Forgery Case
J Paris Cox once pastor in LaPorte and Fort Wayne and later in Wheeler and this city is jailed in Chicago for allegedly forging deeds to valuable property. He had previously served time in South Bend for passing worthless checks and was saved from prison by his wife. Wealth from his father reportedly dissipated after he left the ministry.
