Our newly organized team opened the season at Knox last Sunday and played well despite early errors. Knox had five hits off Madsen while our side managed nine against Hisey, with the county seat leading 2 to 1 until the sixth. the game ended 6 to 4. Our lineup included Madsen, Short, Underwood, Boyle, Trinoseky, Foust, Wilson, Dahlke, and Atherton. We plan to face Monterey here next Sunday and expect another strong contest as Kenanna’s team visits soon after. New uniforms are on order and grounds are being prepared as the ball spirit runs high.

Milton Bybee Obituary Details Long Life at Mentone Area
Milton Bybee born December 31 1858 in Fayette County Ohio came with his parents to near Mentone and later farmed between Rochester and Mentone. He married Almeda Ball and had Carlos and Dessie both living in Mishawaka. He died in Kansas City May 26 1914 after years in St Louis. Surviving siblings include Simon Cornelius Melvin in this area and several others with extended families. The funeral was held in Mentone last Friday attended by brothers Simon and Cornelius and their families.
