Fatal La Porte motorcycle crash claims Jesse Short
Two former North Judson youths Jesse Short and Roy Lambert were injured when their motorcycle with side car collided with a dairy truck near Clear Lake at Furnace Street LaPorte. Miss Ethel Osby Drowns During Independence Day Outing
Miss Ethel M. Osby age 13 daughter of Mr and Mrs Luther Osby of Riverdale Indiana drowned at Bass Lake during July 4 festivities. She and friends planned lunch while waiting for lemonade. Coroner Thos Hite ruled accidental drowning. Undertaker F G Eatinger transported the body to Riverdale for funeral rites.

Six State Automobile Police Appointed Under Title Law
Six state automobile policemen were appointed Monday by Ed Jackson secretary of state under the automobile certificate of title law. The appointees are James L. Bradley Edinburg Chauncy Barr Middletown F A Martin Linton Clem Rogers Knox and Joseph Taylor M J Glenn Indianapolis. Six more officers will be added later. Two will operate from Indianapolis with the rest assigned districts. They will patrol the state in motorcycles or cars to chase auto thieves. Clem Rogers of Knox is a former county sheriff and ex Republican county chairman of Starke County.

Broken Neck Fatality in Kankakee River Accident
William Shortz a 50 year old LaCrosse businessman was instantly killed Tuesday night while diving in the Kankakee river with twenty friends including five sons. He struck the river bottom breaking his neck and died at once his body was taken to LaCrosse for burial after a funeral in Valparaiso.

Indiana to Finance State School Survey With New York Board
Gov McCray and the survey commission said the general education board of New York and the Rockefeller foundation will finance and organize Indiana's school survey. Work is set to begin in September with J A Van Osdel and Charles M Curry as commission members reporting the board will fund about 40 000 dollars.
