A longtime Crown Point meat market operator who moved from North Judson nearly 25 years ago and later relocated to Hammond died recently. Survived by a wife three sons and two daughters plus four brothers and one sister. Funeral at M E Church Hammond with Dr Bassett in charge followed by burial at Maplewood Cemetery Crown Point.

About 26 000 teachers are needed to fill vacancies in high schools opening in September per the federal bureau of education. The total shortage reaches 99 775, with over a quarter of last year's teachers not returning. Colleges report 10 620 graduates intend to teach. The bureau urges recalling former teachers and using less trained instructors to cover classes within two days.

Charles Tyl Sr born November 21 1872 in Bohemia died in Lakeside hospital Chicago on June 24 at 1 am aged 47 years 7 months 3 days after an operation June 16. He came to the United States at 19, worked as a tailor in Chicago, moved to English Lake four years ago and ran a general store. Married March 16 1895 to Mary Hanan. four children Stella Mamie Charles Jr and James. Survived by wife two brothers James Chicago Frank California two sisters Mrs Boudnek Chicago Mrs Anna Riba Nebraska and other relatives. Funeral held in Chicago June 26 at 2 pm by C S P S lodge with burial in Bohemian National cemetery. He was a devoted husband father citizen and neighbor.
