North Judson Invincibles overwhelmed Lucerne Metea All-Star team at Enterprise Park last Sunday. Star pitchers struggled as North Judson’s strong defense held Lucerne at bay and sealed a lopsided win with minimal errors and no offense from Lucerne.
The Streator Federals, city champions last season, travel to host here next Sunday as a top class team in the region. The game is billed as among the season’s best and organizers urge local fans to boost the home squad.
Charles B. Netherton a popular barber wed Miss Willie Burijanek on a Tuesday at 2 pm. Rev. O C Penticoff performed the ring ceremony in their home above Bernardi's fruit store. Netherton, a North Judson native, is a well known local businessman.
Heavy spring rains cause a washout on Central Avenue beside the Bank building. A team tied to a rack plunged to a deep depth but members were unharmed. Jack Emmett of Denham helped extricate the horses. the bank will stay closed Monday as a legal holiday.
An important meet ing of the North Judson Chautauqua Association is announced at the town hall this Wednesday evening with a published list of officers and committees. The piece nostalgically recalls barefoot boyhood days and changes in town life, contrasting past scenes with present improvements.
Indiana city school teachers must attend monthly institutes under a new state law, modeled on county institutes. The Rev. Ben F. Clifton, pastor of Salem and Kingman M. E. Churches, lies near death at his Flora home after being arrested at his fiancee Ollie Hesler's home east of Middletown for stealing a light tank and later an automobile at Veedersburg. A wedding was off after the arrest. Hesler tends him at his side as his nervous condition deepens and the doctor warns he may die if she is not present. Hesler refuses to believe he is guilty.
The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Traester was baptized in the German Lutheran church by Rev. Heine. Ann Marie was named with W. H. Kellerman as godfather and Mrs. Lyman Kinney as godmother. Harry Van Voorhees, formerly of Ora, died Friday in Chicago and was buried there. Dr. Parker of Ora attended the funeral. He is the father of Miss Clara Van Vorhees, a former North Judson High School student.
The Northern Indiana Editorial Association holds its annual meeting in Kokomo on August 12 and 13 with plans for a record program. State and national figures will participate as organizers promise an event worthy of the long established group. Officers listed include President C A McCormick and Secretary J Ross Woodring.
A petition with seventy five names seeks to form a new company of the Indiana National Guard in Knox. Action is expected soon as the state reportedly needs two or three more companies. Major Frevermuth of South Bend would head the organization with local former members likely to join.
Miss Emma Lintz returns from Chicago for summer. Ray Anderson former creamery worker and recent Crown Point law student visited town aiming to open an office here. Miss Goldie Haschel of Monterey wed Mr William Hickin, Chicago postal clerk, in Monterey church on June 16. They will live in Chicago.

Farmers in western states gear up for a bumper harvest and buy vast machinery from the west. Traction engines threshers and farming implements pass through No. Judson along the Erie division daily. In coming months the Erie will haul grain and produce, with extra east–west trains needed to move the supplies.
Dobn Cerveny has been in Chicago this past week. Klopet's photograph studio will open next Monday July 6. Ira Graeber left Wednesday for a three day visit with his brother in Kentland. Mrs Sam Foust and son Chester left for Chicago Wednesday for a day's visit. Mr and Mrs Herman Block left Saturday for their home in Chicago after a week with the Emmett family in Denham.
Preparations are nearly complete for North Judson’s big Fourth of July celebration at Enterprise Park on July 6. A monstrous crowd is expected with two first class baseball games against Francesville, a wrestling match featuring Kid Ross and Billy Schreeder, platform dancing, fireworks, and refreshments. Local residents and neighboring towns’ visitors are invited to join in the day and evening activities.
In a Monticello letter published in the Indianapolis Star, G. R. Coffin of Monticello, Progressive chairman of Indiana’s Tenth district, argues that Progressive aims align with Wilson and Kern and that defeating the Republicans’ “old guard” requires supporting the Democratic party and nonpartisan tariff reform. He warns that Republican leadership would hinder Progressive legislation and urges a Democratic path.
