A Monday morning blaze destroyed the Arnolds hove, LaCrosse oldest hostelry near Pere Marcquetta depot. The modest loss is about 1500 dollars with insurance on building and contents. William Schultz, a North Judson resident, had leased the hotel recently. 24 rooms, few guests, and minimal furnishings survived. The wind eased overnight, limiting spread. Origin remains a mystery with several theories offered. The sheet iron construction helped confine the fire and locals gathered to watch the landmark burn. rebuilding is unlikely.
