A Farmers Institute plans three sessions next week at Nil to discuss crop methods and market conditions. Speakers from local agriculture groups will share updates and practical techniques for growers.
The annual Starke County Farmers Institute schedules three sessions at Aldine Hamlet and Knox. Events run January 25 26 in Aldine, January 27 in Hamlet, and January 29 in Knox with forenoon and afternoon talks on soil, seeds, dairying, farming economics, and household topics led by local educators and pastors.
Judge Vurpillat disposed of varied cases in the January term including ditch remonstrances in Brown and Burch ditches and Shackleton petition. Orders required construction reports by March term. Name changes and divorces named, naturalization granted to Stark and Engstrom, with new trials in two civil suits.
Mary E Foust and Lois C Foust are named administratrices in separate estates, while petitions to sell real estate to pay debts are granted and guardians appointed. The report covers bankrupty case details, a grand larceny not guilty verdict, a sodomy conviction with fines and jail time, will remand, and political notes on Governor Marshall’s economy push and public-works debates in Indiana.
The Railroad Commission of Indiana convened in Indianapolis to review the year’s rail accidents. Chairman Union B Hunt led the body with W J Wood and M Dowling. The January 24 1967 act required annual conventions to study reports and propose steps to prevent future accidents. Over 100 officials attended and a seven member committee tabulated incidents and suggested trespasser focus and city official involvement.
