Grandson finds 82 year old man dead from self inflicted shotgun blast
The 82 year old James Serovy died Sunday when he attached a shotgun to a nail and discharged it into his left chest. A grandson found him in bed and a burial fund of 67.39 lay on a table. Coroner Hite ruled death by own action. Burial occurred Wednesday at North Judson Cemetery with Rev. Collier presiding.

He farmed around Round Lake and Knox contributing to fruit culture and orchards across Starke and adjoining counties. Survived by wife two daughters Bertha Horner and Mattie Dunfee two sons Homer L. Rogers and Rolla H. Rogers two step sons Marcellus Lucas and Richmond Lucas a brother Ben J. Rogers two sisters Alice Davis and Lida Sharp twenty one grandchildren and many relatives. An Odd Fellow for 47 years mourners included a large fraternal delegation from North Judson Hamlet and Knox.
