Lanam Defeats Parmley in Winamac Boxing Show
About 250 fans attended the American Legion Hall event in Winamac on Tuesday night to watch Jack Lanam of Winamac knock out Walter Parmley of Knox after nearly eight rounds. Referee Leroy Thompson ruled no foul, though Parmley claimed one in the seventh. The card also featured local Battling Mason and Eckert, Bill Ferrier of LaCrosse, Joe Sudis of Denham, and South Bend’s Whitie Clements versus Logansport’s Jeffries in six rounds.

Infant Wiliam Melvin Lain Died In Tate Age One
The infant son of Mr and Mrs Lester Lain of Tate died Friday at age 1 year 28 days. Burial followed Monday at Round Lake cemetery after services led by Rev Tannehill. Will Heiser brought a rare badger to town found on the Dewey Overmyer farm. Northwest neighbors hunted it with dogs and dug it out from a 6 foot burrow after trailing 40 feet. The 17 pound carnivore is the first seen locally and echoes the Badger State nickname from Wisconsin’s early days.
