An order sets two box sizes for star and rural routes and adds coin holders to collect postage. Boxes must meet aluminum bronze paint and embossed U.S. Mail markings, with owners’ names stenciled. Kelley ranch manager B B Curtis shipped 1000 head of sheep to Chicago at the start of the week. The flock totals 25,000 with a massive shelter for fodder and a large hay and grain production supporting extensive livestock needs.
A delegation from No Judson and other enthusiasts met in the Farmers room at the courthouse in November to organize the Northern Tidiana Poultry and Pet Stock Association. The state case against Rev. Bb. I. Clifton, former U B pastor, ended in Covington on Tuesday when the prosecution moved to dismiss. William B Nicoles of Medaryville, aged near one hundred, likely to reach his hundredth birthday before Indiana’s centennial. Born in Highland County Ohio, he moved to Peru early, worked as a journeyman tailor, and enjoys decent health aside from eyesight and hearing decline. A longtime Mason, he hopes to be part of Indiana’s state centennial celebration if health allows.
The democratic county central committee met at Knox Saturday afternoon and chose Edw H Taylor secretary of the Starke County Abstract Co as the new county chairman to replace Aug H Knosman who resigned due to a provision of the new primary law prohibiting state appointive officials from serving in political organizations. Taylor’s name was the only one presented and was elected by acclamation. He will serve until the March primaries when a full committee is elected. The meeting discussed the new law and authorized Taylor to fill vacancies among precinct committeemen.
