Bass Lake Gala Days Highlight Bass Lake Summer Scene
Last Thursday and Friday Bass Lake shone with a county Field Day and Picnic at Cranberry Point hosted by Starke County's business leaders. Activities included basket dinner boating dancing and a farmers versus business men ball game. The Bass Lake street carnival opened at Winema and featured fortune tellers novelty stands and a vaudeville show run by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bass Lake Country Club.

Killed By Erie Train Near Monterey
Hector Rock ten year old son of Gust Rock living near Monterey was killed instantly when a west bound Erie fast train struck his car at Ora crossing around 2 pm Sunday. Rock drove from So Bend where he worked to visit his family and was en route to see a young lady friend when struck. The head and body were mangled and the car wrecked. He was buried at Monterey Tuesday.

P H McCormick vice president of the First State Bank was named state chairman of the American Bankers Association Educational Committee for Indiana. a committee meeting is planned in Indianapolis late September.
