Pioneer Jacob Kreis Dies at Hammond Home
Jacob Kreis born May 19, 1842 in Ryan Falls Bavaria Germany died Sunday morning at his daughter Mrs Jemima Spellman s home in Hammond after a long illness aged 74 years 3 months and 5 days He was a Wayne township trustee and county commissioner candidate He is survived by five children 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild The funeral was held after arrival of his remains from Transmonad on the luovclock C and train with services at the German Lutheran church.

Sudden Death of George Miller in North Judson
George Miller died of heart failure Thursday morning while cleaning switch lamps near the Erie tower. Born April 7 1849 in Posen Germany he was 65. He lived in Detroit LaPorte County Pulaski County and North Judson and leaves Frances Sprado and 19 children, four daughters survived. Funeral service at the Catholic church followed by burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Annual Harvest Jubilee elects officers at town hall
The executive committee of the Bird Annual after Harvest Jubilee met last Thursday in the town hall and elected officers for this year. President Frank J. Wessely and Vice President Dr John K R Spitler lead the list with Secretary J Vance Collier and Treasurer Perry H McCormick. The committee plans to finalize remaining members for next week’s News issue and aims for Oct 2 9 and 4 as major festival days in Starke County.

Automobile Crash Near Cook Farm Ends Injuries
A Monday noon accident south of the Cook farm overturned a Lambert car carrying Frank Coetecan his wife his six year old daughter and his mother in law along with Mrs Bolacek of Chicago. The wife and child suffered broken right collar bones while the mother in law and Mrs Bolacek had arm injuries. Doctors Englerth and Fisher treated the injured at their office.
