Picnic Big Success at Starke County Field Day
The first annual Starke County Field Day and Picnic at Bass Lake drew huge crowds and ideal weather. Hamlet North Judson beat Hamlet 11 to 8 after eight innings in a spirited battle, called at darkness. L. E. Mosher of North Judson earned a cake prize for grounds management. 7 to 800 attendees praised organizers and volunteers.

Found Dead in Her Room At Ora
Mrs Laura Stephenson aged eighty three was found dead in her room at her son in law George Collins home in Ora. coroner cites gas tritis as cause. A native of Miami county she moved to Pulaski county as a child and married Peter Stephenson in 1857. Survived by three sons one daughter thirty grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. Funeral held at Round Lake with cemetery interment there.

Absent Voters May Vote in State Constitutional Election

The 400 acre general livestock farm and 69 acre muck and sand loam tract study soil acidity lime trials crop yields and varieties with field Demonstrations led by Purdue’s A T Wiancko. Our famed ball team won the rule with Star City last Sunday at Enterprise Park scoring a second win in a week after defeating Hamleton Thursday at Bass Lake 11 to 0. Eddie Dolezal delivered a spectacular left field catch despite a sprained ankle and two summersaults. San Pierre’s snappy team visits next Sunday while Crown Point plays here Sept 25. North Judson and Medaryville play Thursday with Wheatfield and San Pierre Friday and North Jud tackle Friday’s winner Saturday.

The wedding of LeRoy F. Reed and Anna Elizabeth Caroline Thonert took place Thursday at the Christian parsonage in Knox with Rev. J. S. VanOrman presiding. Witnesses were Cecil D. Fitch and Emily M. H. Born. A wedding supper followed at the groom’s home, then a wedding journey to Peru Kokomo and Logs. LeRoy, a long time Erie car repairer, served in the late war overseas.

The American Luthergue Band is organized with thirteen members and a director. Prof. W. H. Uffelman leads as president and director, with Wm. Kellerman Jr as secretary and Elmer Trinoskey as treasurer. Other members include Fred Keehn, Wm. Kortum, Walter Guenthner, Fred Gussman, Arthur Wobibb, Geo. Abraham, Hugo Keehn, Otto Foedtke, Paul Traester and Herman Teske. A big concert plan is noted for September with two bands and vocal accompaniment.

Fatal A A Accident In New York Central Yard
Charles Shetlock a New York Central conductor was fatally injured when his train backed into another in a yard just before noon. His leg was severed and the other mangled, amputation would have been required if he had not died. Dr Englerth aided him and he was taken to the South Bend hospital. He left a wife and daughter who were visiting Minnesota. He had over 18 years on the railroad and was well regarded.
