The 49th annual Starke County Teachers Institute meets August 25 to 30 at the Knox Christian church. Sessions led by Dawkins Deneen Smailey Beers and others cover geography primary methods agriculture and music with a reception and teacher reading circle on schedule. Dr Collins to move practice to Winamac and a county teachers reading circle with books by Edwin and others outlined.

Samuel Osborn of Union township raised a half blood Durham cow that birthed twin calves. He entrusted them to his grandson Samuel Shearer who kept them until age three. Last week Cass Dillon bought the steers for 140 dollars each. they weigh 8200 pounds and are to be fattened to 2000 pounds for Christmas beef.

Wot Replogle and wife join the annual reunion of the South Indians Regiment at Attica last Wednesday and Thursday. The attendance shows thinning ranks with only 15 veterans present this year compared with 69 at LaFayette two years earlier. Mrs Replogle is elected to full membership in the 6th Indiana Regiment. this honor marks a rare admission of a woman to full membership in Indiana regimental history. Comrade Banks of Kansas, a color bearer who helped plant the Stars and Stripes at Missionary Ridge, also attended.
