Big County Picnic Plans Take Shape In Knox
The County Field Day and Picnic committee met at Starke County Trust in Knox to finalize plans for August 18 at Bass Lake. Farmers' Organization members from most townships attended with North Judson, San Pierre, Hamlet, and Knox business communities pledging support and 11:30 a.m. closing for shops to aid attendance. Committees for grounds and parking, refreshments, reception, and program were named with Oscar B. Smith as chairman. Hamist challenged North Judson 05 to a baseball game, San Pierre offered to play the winners, and bands from North Judson and Knox will provide music for a planned big crowd. Details to follow.

Death Takes "Brad" Falvey in Sudden Hospital Death
Gary Falvey formerly of Knox and San Pierre died in Mercy hospital Gary after an appendectomy operation. He was an only son of Mr and Mrs Mike Falvey of San Pierre survived by wife and child and many relatives. The remains were brought to San Pierre for a Catholic service and interment in Winamac with K of C involvement.

Purdue President Dies Climbing Mt Banon in Canada
Dr W E Stone president of Purdue University and his wife, both expert climbers, were on a Banff area ascent when Mrs Stone fell into a crevice. He tried to rescue her, slipped, and fell into a deeper crevice, dying instantly. Mrs Stone was injured but is expected to recover. Search parties found them after their absence.

Wanatah expects a $45,000 factory fund for a Marquette Electric Co plant to be built along the Pennsylvania right of way. Contracts near, main building 200 by 50 feet, aiming for fall operation.
