About a hundred Rooseveltians from across Starke County met in North Judson to weigh a full third party county ticket. The gathering split on the move, voting to send delegates to the Indiana Progressive state convention in Indianapolis this week. Rail Road township remains the Roosevelt stronghold with several prominent supporters named. Rumors point to another Progressive meeting soon.

Balloon Racer Seen Over North Judson Sunday
North Judson residents on Sunday afternoon observed a moving object high above the town. After speculation, locals concluded the mystery was a huge St. Louis balloon racer, seen at least a mile up in the sky.

Obituary: James D. Reed Dies in North Judson
James D. Reed, born March 26 1838 in Seneca County Ohio, died July 28 1912 in North Judson Indiana aged 74 years 3 months 27 days. He married Catharine Galloway in 1862 producing seven children six living and later married Ella Johnston in 1872 producing Willie Roy Austin Harold with Harold the only deceased. Funeral held at home with Rev Richards and Rev Thorpe, interment in Highland Cemetery. Attending from distance included Mrs Stucky niece of Battle Creek Mrs Beeler of Bremen J M Reed brother from Noble county and Mrs Wyland daughter of Noble county.

Birth of a baby boy to Mr and Mrs Lempke of Jackson township
Wm Lempke and his wife welcomed a baby boy Monday night. A list of attendees from the Bass Lake area attended a dance at the Bass Lake Country Club last Thursday evening. The first conviction in Indiana for involuntary manslaughter in a fatal pedestrian auto crash was delivered in Indianapolis. Howard Bryant was found guilty after twenty hours of deliberation with a jury voting ten to two or eleven to one for conviction on the final ballot.

Plate glass shattered at Wakeman's drug store
Saturday morning the plate glass in Wakeman's drug store was broken when a horse and wagon backed into the storefront. Cr. Cy. Arnold, driving Milt Caddy's horse, stopped after pulling the lines and the animal backed up into the glass, causing extensive damage.

Eagles Picnic Draws Starke County Members in South Bend
More than a hundred Starke county Eagles including several from No. Judson will attend a large picnic of the South Bend Avenue at Muessel's grove in South Bend next Sunday. The Eagles band will play and refreshments and games are planned. A special train may be arranged from San Pierre for the event. Horse Sale announced for August 3 in Medaryville.

Prohibition Candidates To Speak At North Judson Meeting
Prohibition forces plan an August 18 meeting in North Judson with Rev. Dr. Hickman of Indianapolis, Prohibition candidate for governor, and Rev. Hundred Teens Belt Dr T S Kral Visit With Noise
About one hundred youths armed with tin pans revolvers and noise makers stormed the home of Dr T S Kral and wife visiting her parents Mr and Mrs Thos Koza. The bedlam woke sleeping residents who likened the ruckus to Teddy Roosevelt invasion and the crowd finally quit after the hosts paid up in a light hearted display of hospitality.

Court House boys fall to Knox business men in baseball
