Ross Township Approves Record Budget No Tax Increase

Ross Township commissioners approve a record budget of 1 169 744 for the full year ending 1962 with 814 mills tax rate and debt refinancing saving taxpayers over 100 000. The budget allocates 106 225 capital outlay 95 600 health and sanitation 59 500 recreation 222 725 public protection and 56 000 miscellaneous while Ralph Anderson abstains.

Ohio Township to use Camp Horne Park this summer

Ohio Township residents gain summer use of Camp Horne Park with a reduced bond related tax rate. The Pine Authority received first ever state approval to lower annual payments, cutting interest near 1 percent. May 1 Is Moving Day For County Roads Transfer

County road transfers begin May 1 as part of a three stage plan totaling 252 miles of roads and 257 bridges. The move, tied to 1961 legislation, involves Wildwood Road Lowries Run St and Nebo Road among others in Ohio and Ross townships. State officials plan to complete the transfer by May 31 1982 with the county receiving immediate repairs and limited bridge handoffs where needed.

Marshall motel project to open this summer near Route 19

A $400,000 motel complex with eight units a restaurant and lounge for 180 people, a 40 by 60 foot pool and 168 parking spaces is planned by Smeds Enterprises in Marshall Township near the Pennsylvania Turnpike entrance. Owned by David Ogilvie, the structure sits on Route 19’s west side. Humble Oil & Refining Co has bought two adjoining parcels for $30,000, with no immediate development plans stated.
