Reserve Township directors adopted a budget raising school taxes by three mills to 28 mills. The meeting drew zero residents amid a letter from Republican chair William M. Haas criticizing an eight mill increase two years earlier. District officials defended state wage laws and costs for buses and parochial transportation, noting little attendance by residents.
A Ross woman sustained minor injuries in a two vehicle crash at Siebert and McKnight roads on Tuesday June 28 at 1 13 p m Mrs Richard Yost 19 Baker Drive treated at Allegheny General Hospital released her two children Mark 1 and Kelly 3 and the other driver James A Carlin 2288 Maple Drive were also injured in Ross
Mrs. Edward Lamert of North Side suffered a skull fracture when her overturned car on Wexford Run Road left her injured and her children bruised. Edward Lamert, the driver, was unfamiliar with the twisty road but treated and released. J Stephen Leone, 18, was treated after his car struck a utility pole on Route 8. A separate, noninjury wreck occurred in Hampton as Byerly’s stalled car was hit by Bittner’s vehicle. Vandalism included a blown phone booth and damaged mail boxes. Police called July 4 the quietest in 10 years with one minor auto accident and several towns reporting no injuries.
Bids for a front end loader highlift were opened at a adjourned Avalon Council meeting on Thursday June 30. Three bids were referred to the street committee for inspection and reporting findings. The purchase contract will be awarded at the regular July meeting. A progress report on maintenance indicates the garage and fire engine house roofing will be completed soon. The meeting included general borough needs discussion. The Rev So Jack Paxton will be installed pastor at North Hills UP Church West View on Sunday July 10 at 7 30 pm. Paxton is from Glassport.

Hampton police reported an auto accident on Route at W Bardonner Road. Friday afternoon July 1 two injured were Virginia A Slagel 19 of 2843 Chautauqua Hampton and Mrs M G Sullivan Pittsburgh. Several residents listed as involved or admitted or discharged follow with addresses in Elwood City Evans City Hampton Shaler McCandless Richland Millvale and Middlesex.
A local square dance event at the Malt Way Mall on Friday July 18 invites the North Hills Squares and others to join. Gene Claw of North Hills will call the dances, with Northy square dancers possibly attending.
