McCandless approves large rezoning for two developments
McCandless commissioners on Monday December 22 rezoned 85.98 acres along Rinaman Road and 53 acres near Arcadia Road to permit two major projects. Arcadia Inc plans a 120 unit apartment complex on 10.3 acres, while Collingwood Corp proposed up to 300 to 400 units across its northern parcel and 36.42 acres shifted to Residential 4 for apartments. A 7-acre commercial strip along the southern edge would host offices and a shopping center, with a 50 foot right of way offered for a road to Rinaman and Grubbs. Residents voiced traffic and tax concerns, and a sewer system expansion was noted as key to future growth.

Family in Richland Loses Home in Fire
A Richland family of nine lost their home Sunday when a garage fire sparked an explosion in the cellar. Chet Linn, 15, was treated for a burned arm. the home, built eight years ago by Karl Linn, is insured. The family is staying with relatives as investigators determine the cause and scope of losses estimated above £ 25,000.
