Robert Marko earns outstanding young man title in North Hills
Robert G. Marko assistant principal of Cumberland Hills and Middle Road schools in the North Hills area wins the Outstanding Young Man of the North Hills for 1972 from the North Hills Jaycees. He resides at 502 Pin Oak Drive Shaler with wife Sylvia and daughters Michele and Kristin. He began at Cumberland Hills in 1971 and split duties after Middle Road opened. He supervised a greenhouse project and developed a food service vocational program while serving on a handicapped guidance team. Marko, a Wilkinsburg High School graduate, holds degrees from California State College and Duquesne University. His career started in 1964 at Bellevue High School and he led a girls shop class. He later worked in special education at Eastern Area School and returned to Cumberland Hills in 1969. He was president of the Allegheny County Special Services Education Association in 1970 and has served on its House of Delegates since 1968.
