It won’t be long now until summer vacation ends as 10 year old Mark Gadd relaxes on sun drenched steps at Espe School. Classes start Aug. 30 in most schools.
Four young men were arrested by Ross Township police last weekend after raids on two White Oaks apartments at Stevens Drive. Christopher E Wienand and William J Wilson, both 550 Stevens Drive, were charged with dangerous drug and cosmetic act violations. Michael P Flood, 600 Stevens Drive, and Peter Dausch, 2319 Wyland Ave Hampton, face hearings August 31. Police seized bags of marijuana and hashish and three rifles. Dausch was arrested after a car search at Winchester Realty Corp on McKnight Road.

State environmental officials and Butler Consolidated Coal Co review a preliminary report on Pine Creek pollution from the Wildwood Mine. An aquatic biologist tests insect life to gauge pollution severity while hearings, delayed since March, await records on Thompson and an engineering firm study.
Washington labor official predicts rank and file union members will generally accept Nixon’s wage price freeze due to inflation fears and foreign competition. He argues the policy will benefit jobs and overall national business stability despite short term hurts.
Cheryl Meinert 5 was not lost. Her mother and grandmother believed she wandered off. Franklin Park Police Chief Norbert Mickles, road crew and Mrs Meinert coordinated a search of the house, basement, woods, and ponds. Cheryl was found behind a box under a bed asleep with her doll after a minor dispute.
Beattie Technical Vocational High School will begin classes Monday August 30 with Pall enrollments. All students enrolled in the technical program are to attend on that date even if their home high school classes start later.
