Mountain climbers of Pittsburgh die on Nanga Parbat
Two area climbers from Pittsburgh explore club perished in a rock slide on Nanga Parbat in the Himalayas while a 14 member team attempted the 26 600 foot summit. Robert Broughton and George Roger were identified as the deceased.

West View renews winter road maintenance agreement

Baranyai Held for Court on 26 Charges
Millvale patrolman Frank L Baranyal was held for court on 26 of 38 criminal charges stemming from alleged beatings and threats. Flood control plan a success says Flaherty
County Chairman Jim Flaherty credits the Girtys Run Flood Central Project in Millvale with preventing floods though only 60 percent complete. A cement truck with a blown left front tire veered across four lanes on Route 19 North and demolished a 1973 auto while damaging two other cars at Hame Oldsmobile. The truck driver, Wall Gaealet, 42, of Saxonburg, employed by John W Thrower Builders, was not injured. One 1973 car valued at 2880 dollars was totaled, and a 1973 model was pushed down a 12 foot bank into a passenger door.
