Collision in Fog Destroys Florence and Survival on ScandiNavian
The British brig Florence sank after a collision with the Allan Hne steamer Scandinavian twenty miles south of Cape Race during fog. Captain Henry Olsen and four crewmen drowned along with his wife. survivors described a frantic rescue as the Scandinavian pulled away and Florence went down in ninety fathoms. The Florence was bound from Sydney to St Johns with coal. The Florence crew included Noah Norris, William Yabsley, James Norman, and William Fry.
