The Senate opened with a Greece sympathy resolution amid a heated clash over House inaction and filibuster talk. The Nelson bankruptcy bill passed 49 to 8, replacing the Judiciary committee plan with a simpler voluntary and involuntary framework, detailing petitions, creditor rules, and discharge conditions.
In Washington on April 2 the House set the Indian appropriation bill for Senate amendments without committee review. Democratic dissent surfaced as M Batley and followers allied with Republicans after a modified order. Missouri’s Mr Gland vigorously protested but failed to gain a second vote. Kwaneas’ Mr Simpson was absent. Senate amendments of minor importance were agreed except for removing the Indian supply depot from Chicago to Omaha. The Uncompahgre opening was not acted upon. Judge Holman’s death was announced during debate. Remains were to be escorted to their final resting place with usual resolutions and adjournment as a mark of respect.

The king avoided the dagger, Acechrate was arrested, and the crowd cheered the monarch as the race proceeded. The king deemed it a minor incident of his trade and resumed the day at the racecourse.
Westbound Atlantic and Danville passenger train No 1 was struck from the rear while taking water at Mayo's Creek, about 35 miles east of Danville. The rear coach was demolished and the engine damaged. Engineer Cliy and his fireman escaped with bruises.

Athens reports Maj Sontez with two cavalry squadrons captures three villages held by two Turkish battalions. A third squadron occupies Fort Salahbova on the Gulf of Aria. Turks retreat leaving three cannon and dynamite. at Bougherizi Turkish companies are annihilated as Greeks target Greek batteries. Vicoli fort is surrounded with six Turkish batteries silenced.
A Paris dispatch dated April 22 reports Constantino giving Greece's condition to the powers. Greece will drop claims to Crete if Turkey is compelled to surrender Epirus and Mount Olympus as stipulated by the Berlin Treaty.
An Armory hall spectacle featured clever athletic displays with Lieutenant Barber defeating George Compere two to one. The Company team beat Companies A and Bol but lost to the Marines in two of three matches. Captain Duncan Ross demonstrated swordsmanship by slicing a mutton, a lead pope, and an inch square stick with swift cuts.
Richmond WI April 22 reports a concerted push by Local Democrats to secure the State Democratic Convention. A committee will be formed to lobby the State Committee, with funds to cover expenses. The title is The State of Virginia In the closing scene of the Revolutionary War the Siege of York town and the Richmond delivery drew hearty applause and favorable notices from the Nehmonad press.
