Lord John Russell was re elected without opposition at the Guildhall on Wednesday before about 3,000 people. S Jones Loyd proposed the candidate and S Gurney seconded. Russell spoke praising free trade and the reformers who advanced it, urging nationwide adoption of liberal economic principles and religious liberty.
