Guardian Angels enrollment increases with the return of first grade. About 100 first graders attended the Aug 29 first day. Enrollment reached 765, up from 745 last year. second grade planned for 1974-75 pending board decision. Immaculate Heart of Mary enrollment rose to 465. Lunch prices up due to milk subsidy cuts. A new parking lot and a new teacher, Kathleen O’Connell, joined GA and IMH staff.

Trustees to build third firehouse in Anderson Township
Anderson Township trustees unanimously approved land offers for a third firehouse. Two of three sites in the Ancor area were deemed satisfactory with Heekin Can land next to railroad preferred. Construction could start within six months and the site would be staffed upon completion.

Asst. chief quits fire department in Anderson
Anderson Township Trustees accepted the resignation of Walter L. Roy Proctor Jr from the Anderson fire department effective 8 a.m. September 6 after a dispute with Fire Chief Ed Stagnaro. Harvey Koch was promoted to lieutenant and will join Lynn Van Ness and Fred Turton as assistant chiefs. Koch, his wife Betty, and their two children reside at 7734 Forest Rd.

The General Protestant Orphan Home at Beech Acres promotes the 124th annual orphan feast as the largest single day event east of the Mississippi.
