New policy shields teens from minor misdemeanor records
Anderson Township introduces a voluntary summons option for youthful offenders. Sheriff may issue voluntary or involuntary summons with hearings not recorded officially, aiding court focus on repeat offenders and allowing potential nonrecord expungement. The policy, effective July 1, involves sheriff, trustees and Juvenile Court referee Charles Mullenix, and applies to all youths who commit minor acts in area including nonresidents.
