Forest Hills board narrows 150 applicants to 10 or 12 for the superintendent post and will complete final initial interviews Wednesday with follow-up interviews beginning Saturday. References and community input will be sought as five eligible candidates remain.</s>
Anderson Township trustees Robert Dorsey and Thomas Taylor faced a tough selection as 14 strong candidates sought the seat vacated by John O'Brien. The two said the quality of applicants required a careful, 30 day process with a numerical ranking system to reach Albert Steffen as the final choice. They noted no external pressure influenced the decision amid unrelated staffing and budget matters.
A. Murdock plans a policy appeal at the White House on February 9 to press economic ideas before President Reagan and the House. He received a telegram Friday from the President asking him to attend.
Newtown will receive a 34500 matching fund grant from the Land and Water Conservation program via Ohio DN R to convert land used for dumping into an active recreation park off Debolt Road. Councilman Steve Kline says the plan includes two soccer and two baseball fields with potential completion by late summer and additional eight acre parcel for picnicking nearby.
Two local men from Mt. Washington and Newtown, Ronald A. McGee and Donald Smith, were charged by the Secret Service with passing at least 16 counterfeit bills in Hamilton County areas including Goshen Lebanon and Mason. They were arrested February 5 by Cincinnati officers and linked to a pattern of phony $20 and some $10 notes.
The Anderson Area Chamber supports rezoning two acres on Beechmont Avenue in Anderson Township. H D and Lillian West seek to reclassify from EE Planned Retail Business to E Retail Business to allow flexible use. Public hearings are planned with the Hamilton County Rural Zoning Commission and Anderson Township Planning Board, with final action by the county commissioners likely this spring.
