Mullenix named referee for new juvenile court branch

Charles Mullenix was announced as referee and William Ranaghan as presenter for a Hamilton County Juvenile Court branch in Anderson Township. Trustees praised all five candidates and will forward recommendations to judges David Grossman and Paul OConnor. The program, modeled on Sharonville, aims to cut local juvenile crime by handling delinquency, vandalism, shoplifting and drug abuse cases locally, with Mullenix noting vandalism as a growing concern.

Fire at elementary school suspected arson near Sherwood Forest

A fire behind an elementary school at 7080 Grantham Way Sherwood Forest was contained to a small area with a broken window. Anderson Township Fire responded quickly and doused the blaze. authorities suspect arson and will continue the investigation. No damage estimate available.

Trustees delay decision on land study in Hamilton Township

The Northern Tier Study on land uses for the northern township and Newtown faced 4-1 rejection by the PZC and was sent to trustees. At a late meeting, bids for road repairs were discussed while funding issues with CD money and HUD pressure were debated. The board planned to study Rosetree Lane cavity damage and approved transfers for Immaculate Lane and other roads, with the Putt-Putt eviction dispute and Zorba's liquor license hearing on the agenda.

Fire destroys Mt. Washington home on Coffey Street

Raymond Hance watched his house at 6532 Coffey Street burn in Mt. Washington. Firefighters estimated damage between 13 000 and 20 000 dollars. JIM HUNT, a retired Cincinnati fireman, woke Hance and pulled him to safety, saving his life as Hance planned a weekend move after layoff from Crown Industries in Tampa.
